A Return and a Project

I have been horrible at even thinking to blog let alone getting it done. The kids seem to grow up faster by the minute and I am grasping on to every moment we get to share.  With time quickly slipping through my hands, like the sand in an hour glass, I try my best to always choose the time spent with the kids.  In a blink of an eye they will be off the college.  With that said, I also am trying to make time for more of my interests.  Of course my main interest is Scrapbooking or Paper Crafting.  I am years behind, 10 I believe, but that is OK.  I love reliving the memories.  I also hope to improve my photography skills, which need a ton of help.  I am also tossing around the idea of starting school back up again in the fall. Needless to say, I am crazy and things tend to easily fall trough the cracks (i.e. cleaning house).

In an attempt to fill my personal me time joy meter up with a completely selfish act, I am hoping to get more scrapbooking in this year.  To start things off here is a project I worked on yesterday. This is from a camping trip back in '05

Here are two (almost) identical layouts. Once again sorry about the photography. On top of not being that good it was late at night when I took these.  I got inspiration from my Pinterest scrapbooking board. As always I am using up my ever growing stash, so I will reference the things I know.

Pretty much all the paper comes to me from my sweet SIL who so kindly passed them onto me as she was cleaning her stash out (an I never pass any of that goodness up). Needless to say I have no ideas what brand they are just that they were perfect.  The main cream background paper and the beige square were from The Paper Studio in packages I picked up at some point.

The flashlight, fire fly jar, dutch oven, fire, and roasting sticks stickers are from Stickerpotamus. They are the Great Outdoor set.  I have no idea if these are even still around or how long ago I bought them, but they are still adorable. The square were cut out with Creative Memories square punch ( except the large 2" was cut with my Fiskars straight cutter)

The Happy Camper Log title sticker is from Me and My Big Ideas Camping Kid Stickers.  I love this set too and also could not tell you when I bought them.

The button brads are from The Paper Studio Spare Parts line. Love them!!

This next picture shows a close up of the papers I cut in varying widths (1, 3/4 and 1/2 inches) and lengths (2 1/8 inches and under) to add more texture and dimension to the layout.  I also used Colorbox cat eye ink in Chestnut to in around the edges of some of the papers embellishments. The star stickers also come from the Stickerpotamus set.

Finally I made two cards (I only have a picture of the one and will post the other later, maybe) with the left over scraps. It is simple, but that isn't always bad. The Stamp used was from Stampin' Up, not sure what set. This was another great inheritance of my SIL's cleaning out and simplifying. I the "rope" was left over from??? It was originally white and I rubbed in Colorbox ink in Chestnut Roan. I also stamped the sentiment with this color.

I will also be post this on a couple of challenge site check them out Stampin' Pearls with Candice with Candice and Let's Scrap

Card Swap

Well life just keeps me too busy these days. I have little time for myself or getting any crafting done. To help me make myself spend some time crafting I decided to join a card swap over at the flying unicorn. All you have to do is make 3 cards to send to another person. And you will get 3 cards in return. No biggie. If you want to check out the details go here. You have until tomorrow to sign up. I will be posting the cards I made after I have sent them off.

New Year New Goals

Each year we set new goals. This year I hope to continue to improve my health, start re-doing the house room by room (organizing included), and spend more time creating.  I have joined a group over at Let's Scrap to try and get a layout a day for this month done. I am also in a group to try and get 100 Layouts done this year. You can check out all the rule over at their site. I am changing them up a little for me, they say a double page LO counts as two but I am counting them as one.  I hope to post some of my work here soon. Hope you all have a great New Year!!

Christmas Card

Here is a non-traditional take on a Christmas card. The color inspiration comes from Scrap Friends Blog. I can't wait to do a scrapbooking LO in these colors too. I used up some of my stash and scraps to complete this (always great when you have as much stuff as me and always want to buy more).

I took a rectangle glitter card (DCWV) and traces out the decorative card and cut it out. I then used a piece scrap paper (blue) and traced the scallop boarder using a Kiwi Lane Design template, and cut it out. I then inked a piece of chipboard (Oriental Trading) with Stampin' Up Peach Parfait using a sponge. It then Stamped The saying (Stampin' Up) on white paper and cut it out with decorative scissors (scalloped, The Paper Studio). I punched a circle with my small circle punch (Creative Memories) with another piece of Scarp paper (pink).  I then added two gem stones from The Paper Studio.

The flower is punched using a Stampin' Up punch on yellow and orange textured cardstock (from my stash, probably DCWV). I crumpled the top tow layers to give it dimension. I then pierced the center and place an orange glitter brad in the center (The Paper Studio) and glued it down with Glue Dots.
TO add a little more dimension, I added hand drawn stitching

Gone Fishing

Here is a layout I created to capture a day fishing trip we took with family. As always I made a page for each kid and after I took this picture I noticed that the pictures don't line up. I took a page from each kids layout and so they aren't exactly the same. Due to my laziness it looks as if I can't line anything up, oh well. I used up some of my stash to complete this layout.
First I found a yellow cardstock that would coordinate with my pp. These are very old papers and I have no clue what company they come from (they are from my 8.5x11 days). I then cut the squares and some of of the pictures in 2.5" squares. The pictures I wanted larger I cut down to fit the best I could. I then found this cute fishing guy in my stash, once again no clue who he comes from. I added the fishing themed stickers and did a faux stitch line around the pictures.
Here is the sketch I based this layout on from Let's Scrap
