I finally was able to sit down and get my first card for the Blog Hop done!! This is from Mindi Brown's Blog, she is the first stop in the Hop. Here is the sketch my inspiration came from over at Let's Scrap

The card I made is for the One and Only in my life.

I used MME Love Nest Paper Stack. First I took plain white cardstock (8.5x11) and cut it in half and then folded the two sides in half. I then cut the blue and pink polka dot paper to cover the face of the card. I then cut a piece of the bird paper to fit the height. I then hand torn the side.

I then cut the paisley journaling spot out with my Cricut with my Storybook cartiridge. I then used Stampin' Up Laughter and Love rub ons.

Here is a new set of flowers that I just listed in my shop. It is a set of three separate flowers that can be worn different ways. I also have made this as one clip on request. Perfect for Valentine's Day

2 New Layouts

These Layouts are of a trip to see family. The first focuses on what my son would tell us when we would ask him how to pick up chicks and he would flex and tell us to "Kiss These Guns!" I used Scrapbook Challenges website Sketch 273 for inspiration

I used so old PP from my stash, I can't remember what it is from I'm thinking DCWV. I also used a bunch of my scraps.

I used stitching one of my accents on this page with DMC #370 floss. I also used Vintage buttons from my Great Grandmothers stash.

The lettering for "Kiss" is from Chatter Box, "These" us from Basic Grey's LilyKate line, and "Guns" is from American Crafts Thickers chip Board stickers smudged with Color Box Dark Brown Ink.

My next Layout is for my daughter who is so excited to see her uncle. I used ScrapbookChalleges website Sketch 276 for inspiration.

My PP is From The Paper Studio from my stash. The others are once again Scraps.

The Flower details are from my Scary Cute line.

The Scalloped detail is from Colorbok sweet blooms line. The strips of paper are cut from my stash and folded to give it a ribbon effect. The lettering is Kaiser Craft Fozz Fontz.

Layout A Day

I decided to join a group on Let's Scrap to motivate myself to get some scrapbooking done. This month they are doing a Layout a Day, or 31 Layouts for the month of January. Here is my first layout. I finished up some picture of the kids playing around, back from 2004 (yes I am that far behind). I will try and get better pictures up but these will have to do for now.

I used my stash to make this. I used textured orange cardstock for the main background. I then used scraps of DCWV Safari Kids of the animal and leaf prints. I used left over Provo Craft vinyl for the the brown strip on the top. I am not sure what the plaid paper is, it is from my scraps and I used my Cricut to cut out the flags with my Celebrations cartridge. For the Monkeyin' and the star stickers I used American Crafts Remarks Jewelry Box lettering. For the Around on the flags I used Scrapworks Toby Font rub ons. The chipboard elements are from the American Crafts Safari Kids. The Orange Brad is from The Paper Studio Spare Parts line.

My sweet hubby gave me the Cricut Imagine for Christmas this year. Last night I was finally able to sit down and play around with it. I know I wanted to right away but with so much family in town and then the stomach flu, oh and getting the hubby ready for the hunt, I just didn't have time. Well let me tell you, I am LOVING IT!!! Truthfully I really didn't get what all it did. I mostly just looked cool. Well last night I was able to make my daughter the cutest owl using an old Cricut cartridge and an Imagine one to print cute patterns before cutting it out. I can"t wait to sit down and really figure the machine out. The kids are also excited because they get my old expressions machine. A win win for all.

Looking Ahead to the New Year

Christmas has come and gone all to quick. I now find myself reflecting on what I would like the New Year to bring, or what I would like to accomplish. I am hoping to get back into running and doing some of favorite workouts. I also hope to find time to spend more time with my creative side. This will require a better daily plan of attack or organization (not my strong suit). I also am hoping to get the house in order, on the market, sold and settle in a new home this year. This alone seems very daunting, but also very exciting. I would love to hear what you are hoping to accomplish in the next year.

Counting Down 'Til Christmas

The Christmas countdown is underway and the list is getting checked off. Just no quite as fast as I'd like. So we finally let the kids decorate the tree on Monday, I know a little late. It is starting to feel more like the Christmas Season. I hope everyone is enjoying it and not stressing out. The other night I was able to sit back a relax for a minute and come up with a new creation, that I am in love with by the way. Now if I can fins time to Scrapbook a little. You never know. I just need to get everything organized a little and it could happen in between all the Christmas parties and preparations.

Scraplifiting

Here are two pages I made from scraplifiting a layout in Scrapbooks Etc. Magazine. I just love these photos of my kiddos. I used odds and ends to do these pages, I am trying to use up my scraps. I made my own template to make the mat framing the picture on the left page and the word cherish. To cut the flowers I used a punch from Stampin' Up and crinkled the top layer and then attached with various brads in my stash. The flower for the journaling was cut with my Cricut and the Accent Essentials cartridge.

On this Layout I cut the circles use the accent Essentials cartridge with my Cricut. I adhered some bling to the center of some circles with Glue dots.

My friend asked e to make a hair piece for her wedding coming up in less then two weeks. Here is what I came up withe the colors she picked. Her dress is white, her shoes are black and she wanted a soft blue (for something blue). She will be doing an up do with the piece on the left side of her hair.

I have been trying to use my huge stash of supplies and not buy as much (I'm not really good at that one), so I am not sure what everything I used is from. I did start out with plain cardstock and sprayed it with shimmer mist. I torn patterned paper and cardstock stickers. Then I added stitched rub-ons. I layered pictures and cardstock. I embellished with 7 gypsies journaling spots, a pocket, flowers, and cardstock stickers and cut out the word Family with my Cricut.

I just started working with this lady that make wedding decorations. They are beautiful! Check them out here. Here are the two orders she just put in.
These royal blue flowers are going to match a the brides shoes. They are gorgeous.

These bordeaux flowers are for another wedding. I really like making these flowers and love how they are being put to use. I always have to make my own flower on a bobby pin for me to wear, of course.

Here is the second layout I did for our day at the zoo. I was such a fun day. I am glad that I can still remember the excitement 7 years later. Yes I am that far behind, but I really don't care. I just enjoy being able to relive the memories and create something at the same time.

Zoo

First I will start off with the sketch that I got inspiration from for my Zoo Layout

I decided to go ahead and make it a two page layout instead. I just love the way a two page layout looks and flows so much better then a single page layout. And let's face it, I take WAY to any pictures and try to squeeze as many in as possible. Unfortunately for this trip to the zoo at least half of the pictures went missing. at least I sill had some left to do.

Here is what I did

Page One:

1)I took a black piece of cardstock a sprayed it with Copper Tsukineko Shimmer Spray. I did this at different distances from the paper to give it different looks. I also sprayed up close so I could create some dripping motions.

2) I the cut circles out of animal print paper with my Fiskars circle cutter in varying sizes and punch smaller circles with my creative memories circle punches.

3) I placed and trimmed my pictures and set up the layout. After finding the placement I cut the bottom center picture in half and adhered all the pictures and circles to the page.

4) I trimmed the title ZOO from a Provo Craft Headliners (It was originally A Day at the zoo)

5) I added the journaling and a Stickoptamus giraffe sticker

Challenging Myself

I decided to step completely out of my comfort zone and try something new. What is it you might ask!?! Well I decided to join a challenge where you make a book all about yourself "The ABC's of Me". Each week there is a new letter and a challenge to come up with a word for that letter in the alphabet to describe yourself. For those who know me, this is something I would never do; but I decided to give it a try. Who knows, someday it just might be a treasure to my kids. I am going to have fun with it. The hardest part is going to be consciously taking pictures of myself. I love pictures of everything but me, so I really have to stretch here. It will be good. I am a few weeks behind, but that is ok. I am going to get caught up over the next couple of weeks. Please join me on this journey. You can check it out here. Here is another layout of a birthday and some cards thrown together with scraps. The layout of this page was from a sketch in the Scrapbooks Etc. Page planner. It is sketch 16 on page 96 if you have the page planner. If not I think it is a great book to invest in.

I am trying to be better at using my scraps right away to make cards and finish off sticker packets, if there is not enough to do another layout. My scraps are getting out of control! These are the cards I made from left overs of the two birthday pages I did. I am definitely better at making cards from an idea and not leftovers, so I hope to improve upon this over the next year.

I came across this great site for scrapbooking inspiration. They have challenges every month and tons of sketches. I love it. I also must admit I have to laugh as I post this, because I was asked the other day if I still scrapbook the "old fashion" way. Sorry all you digital people, I wish I could love it, but I have to have my hand touch and feel what I am doing! I love the textures, smells and the sense of creativity I feel from making it myself. Oh and I am completely computer illiterate. So here is my first page of inspiration from the site first will be the picture of the sketch

Back in Town

We are back and trying to resettle and get ready for school to start back up. With a bunch of things falling apart around us, it has taken a little longer then I planned. (ie phone line down, needing to get a new wireless connection thing-a-ma-jig, natural gas leak, lost mail key, sickness...) So I hope to get a few things done and posted soon. It is always exciting here, but everyone seems to be doing well and my father-in-law is home from the hospital therefore we are happy.

I am so excited to post pictures of some new hair pieces that my sister and I put together. They are SOOO cute and like not something you will find in every store. I was hoping to be making a bunch up and posting pictures for you, but an emergency came up. My Father in Law in undergoing emergency brain surgery to remove blood on his brain and we took off in middle of the night last night. I am not sure how long we will be gone and I didn't gather my things to create before leaving. So when I get back and have time to create I will get the picture up for you.

I hope everyone has a Happy Thanksgiving. It is always a great time of year to reflect on all that we are thankful for. I have been blessed to grow up in a wonderful family and have my siblings as the best friends one could hope for now. I am surrounded by the greatest friends one could ever dream up. And best of all I have the best husband in the world. I adore him even more every day (if that is even possible). I have the best kids I could ever ask for. I am lucky enough to have all these people willing to stick around me and my craziness. I am truly blessed.

I am loving all the Christmas things I want to do!! Here is a cute advent calender I put together. I am in LOVE with it. I was so much fun to make that I just might have to make more, if I get the time. I also have some cute trees I can't wait to get started on. I love Christmas decorations! They are so cheery. I love this material and believe me when I say pictures don't do it justice. It changes from red to green depending on the way the light hits it. I will have a few different sizes in this flower, but please know that once the material is gone, it's gone!! You can always make the smaller ones into clips instead of a headband attachment. I love them! I am also working on a baby headband. Pictures will be posted soon.

I have made some changes in my shop. I am now selling my headbands a bit different. You can order a headband and let me know the color (black or silver) and the size of Velcro you want put on (three flower, medium, or large). Then I will sell the attachments separately. This way there is a benefit to switching out your flowers and not taking up as much room and saving a little cash at the same time. I can't wait to get pictures of all the things I have been working on up. Hope you like them

It will be awhile before I have anything new I'm afraid. The taking on of extra kids is taking up all my time. I have 4 extras this week and it is throwing me for a loop. I love it though and they make me laugh so much at all the silly things they do (especially the 2 year old). Fall Festival

Green Satin Flower WIth Ivory Tulle and Lace

I can't even tell you how happy I am with how this flower turned out. I have been thinking of a green flower for months now. Wondering how to make it work out so that I would love it. Why green you ask, for Spirit Day at my Bug's school. They wear green or a school shirt every Friday, so you need hair accessories to go along with the outfits! So I finally braved it because our school is having a fundraiser next week and I am making hair accessories to auction off. As bad as it may be I am going to give myself a pat on the back for this one. I liked it so much I made three. One for the school auction, one for my Bug, and one for her BFF (because she loved it too).

Thought 1:
I was reading an article about how personality sales. Great, I'm screwed! Now don't take this wrong, I have personality. Translating it to words and on paper (blogs) is a whole different story. I am not the creative type, at least with words. So PLEASE don't penalize me for this. Look at my stuff, it is reeking of personality and I don't really care if anyone else likes my style, because I love it. It is nice that there are some out there who appreciate it, though. Any who, I just thought I'd get that thought out of my head and move onto thought two....

Thought 2:
Am I EVER going to have time to get all these ideas in my mind out and into actual pieces? I have so many things floating around in there and it can be a bit annoying at times (like when I can't sleep because of the images floating around). I hope to sit down and get these things out into more products, I know you'll love them (if not at least I will). I am also wanting , badly, to hit some estate sales or at least spend a day searching things out on eBay. I got to a little yesterday and almost bought 11lbs. of buttons, yes 11lbs. I am kinda bummed I didn't go for it, but I stuck to my max price I wanted to pay for button, which can be ridiculous, since I already hav3 a beautiful stash from my Great Grandmother. Someday, Someday!

Cotton Candy Crush

You may just find out that you have a crush on my new Cotton Candy Headband. I has three different shades of pink satin (carnation (the hot pink), pink (the pink pink) and rose (the pale pink)). Each rosette has more pink sewn onto them with different shades of pink beads (these come from an upcycled bracelet of my daughters that I can't bring myself to fix, so I put it to use). On the tippy top of the headband there is a puff of chocolate brown tulle, because who doesn't love a little chocolate?

Thanks to a friend who wanted some headbands as a gift, I came up with this. I sat down to figure out what I wanted to do and pink came to mind. Because what is more girlie then pink? Nothing! So I decided to include several pinks so it can go with everything pink. Then as I was getting ready to put it together, I decided it needed a hint of chocolate to finish it off. So if you every thought cotton candy and chocolate don't go together, I'm here to prove you wrong!

OOAK

For those of you who are wondering what the heck OOAK stands for, I'm here to help. It is One Of A Kind. There is not a whole lot that I will do that is OOAK, but I will have some with my upcyled shirts. I have a few that I love and don't want to part with, but hate the way they fit or look on me. solution, wear them in my hair!!! So I made this headband with my shirt, satin and denim material. It has a vintage button of my Great Grandmothers and some bling from a costume jewelry bracelet that broke of hers. I love it, but I made a different one for myself with more flowers. I will not be making this one again, so it is a OOAK. If you love it, grab it now. Once it is gone, it is gone. Look for more styles in this material. Some may be OOAK and others I may make a few of.

I guess I really liked this color because I went to the store and bought it twice without realizing it. I have a couple of other things in this color, one is listed at my store and the other is sitting here right next to me waiting to be finished. I am just deciding whether to make it a clip or bobby pins. Decisions...decisions!! I have not been able to get all the ideas floating around in my mind done, let alone anything else, because I caught a wild hair and decided to can and dry peaches. I still need to get my dilly beans done and learn how to make a tomato juice from my friend and try out some salsa. What was I thinking?!?! Oh well. I know we will enjoy all my hard work this winter when the peaches just aren't so yummy, and let's face it nothing is like freshly pick from the local orchard (Love you Kirby's). Maybe next week I will get somethings accomplished, but don't hold your breath.

Birds of a Feather

I was contacted by an upcoming Bride to help make flowers for her bridesmaids to wear. Her bridesmaids will be wearing some gorgeous brown dresses and carrying orange and green bouquets. I love it!! She will be getting married in October and I think it is going to be beautiful. So here are the flowers we came up with for her bridesmaids to wear, they are brown organza with a Colorado topaz Swarvoski crystal center and saddle hackle natural brown feathers. They turned out gorgeous. It has also inspired me to get some things going for this fall, which is right around the corner. Thanks for the inspiration and good luck to my upcoming Bride ;)

The End is Near

Of summer that is. I have mixed emotions of the kids returning to school next week. I am sad to have another year come and go, to not get to play around with the kids and have no schedule, to have the grow up even more and begin the craziness of school and after school activities. I am excited to continue on this journey of growing up with my kids, have a little (and I stress little) time to get some projects done (painting, re-organizing, cleaning out, scrapbooking, decorating..). Gettin Stalked

So I get a request today to make some flowers for a girls bridesmaids. I have an idea of what I am going to do, but I need to head to the store to get the perfect pieces.

As I am walking around checking things out I notice the fabric's lady is following my around. And not just following my around, she is stalking and staring me down. I give a smile and try to continue on un-phased, which is a little hard to do. I am wondering, "Does she think I am going to steal something? I am in here all the time getting materials. She talks to me all the time. What the heck is going on." I still try to mind my own business, and not looked freaked out. Finally she must have felt how uncomfortable I was, or got the nerve up to talk to me for the hundredth time this month. Because after all this stalking, do you know what she wants? She wants to know if I made my headband. Phew!!I guess I have always like to be noticed, if I didn't I wouldn't be wearing this headband. But I must admit it was a little unnerving getting followed around and stared at so intensely. I guess I met my goal to get my headbands noticed.

Treasures

My Great Grandmother passed away a few years ago and us granddaughters were fortunate enough to be able to split up her costume jewelry. It was fun to get together and check out all of her fun things. It is amazing how things come back in style, but how much cooler it is to have the originals. I knew I loved all my treasure, especially for sentimental value, but I didn't realize how much more I would grow to love them. I got them home and cleaned them up, then I found more the various times we would go to her house and gather more treasures. I always wanted to grab what nobody else wanted knowing that I could use it for Scrapbooking or something. Little did I realize how much fun they would be as time would go on. I love adding them to my flowers and dressing up outfits. I know I could use these to sell vintage costume jewelry, and nice ones at that, but I can bear to part with any of it. I can wait to see how my use of my treasures will evolve over time. I have many more treasures to share, also that I can't seem to part with except for family. But with the realization of my love for yet another thing, I think I need to start garage selling and Estate selling it on the weekends. When my time permits, maybe even hitting up some thrift stores to find more treasures, that I can part with and pass on in my flowers or what ever else I come up with.

Adding to my headbands

I am adding new three flower organza headbands with Swarvoski crystals centers to my shop. I have many more colors to come, but right now I have black, brown, cornflower and raspberry available. Soon I will be adding sage and lilac. I also have added an option to add Velcro so you can just by the flowers and switch them out, this is what I do so it keeps the cost down and it takes up less room. If I don't have these options up just get contact me and arrangements can be made to get an order together of what you need. Also contact me for more color options. The headbands also come in black and silver. I suggest getting one of each.

These are the flowers I get the most compliments on. I love them. They often look as if they are just floating in my hair. They are also great because they fit many different size heads, they easily bend in or out to fit your needs. I also love that I can make any of my other clips with Velcro to attach also. I am so crazy busy these days and thinking that school starts in 4 weeks doesn't help.I HAVE to get all my summer time fun in while I can!!! NEW Vintage Inspired Headbands

Wild Hair

Do you ever get a wild hair to do something totally out of the ordinary? Well, my daughter and I were at the store and I fell in LOVE with some fabric, shocker. I had to justify getting it so we spur of the moment decided to make her a skirt. Now you must realize, I can sew, but not that great so I'm not sure what I was thinking. Of course we pick out a pattern with a zipper, something I've never attempted before, but worth a try. I must admit it didn't turn out too bad, and she makes it look very cute. I also decided to throw together a flower to put in her hair. It was actually pretty fun for a quick project. Maybe I'll have to try it more and improve my skills.

Scrapbook Embellishment Fun

I decided to make some paper flowers while my hubby has long hours. I punched out circles that were slightly bigger then the other (on one I had to piece together scraps to get a circle, but that is what scraps are for. You also can't tell once it is done). I lightly misted the circles with water from a spray bottle and then crumpled them and pulled them back out, with out smoothing too much. Then I let them dry and cut a larger circle out of shiny lime tulle. Once they were pretty much dry I used an eyelet setter to make a hole in the middle and attach the layers with an eyelet. Then I put them on glue dots. Today I hope to make a layout or a card, maybe both, with the circles. What a fun way to use up the scraps I can't bring myself to throw away.

Pom-Pom Flowers

I am enjoying experimenting with different ways to make flowers. These Pom-Pom Flowers are made from Shiny Organza. I can't wait to make more. They look so cute in my daughters hair and she can't wait to have more to choose from. They are cute just clipped in the your hair, in a pony tail, on a braid, and on piggy tales. The two I have so far are a red sparkle organza pom-pom flower and a shades of pink sparkle organza flower. The shades of pink has pink sparkle organza surrounded by carnation sparkle organza. I am currently working on a lilac organza pom-pom and a Fourth of July sparkler pom-pom sparkle organza flower with rhinestone sparkles. So stay tuned to see how they turn out.

Thank You Cards

I just realized how much I love making cards. I really haven't done a whole lot, but I started making Thank You cards for my kids teachers four years ago. I really wanted to get them something they could use and something to show how "Thankful" I was for them. So these are the ones I did this year. I have to admit I loved them. They aren't anything spectacular, but I must admit I thought about keeping them. I guess I just need to make my own, since I did give them to the teachers. They were awesome and deserved something that I thought was special.

Hooter Hiders

It seems lately as quickly as I make these I give them away. I guess I should say my more boyish ones (is it raining boys everywhere or just here). Anyways, Here are a few I put together. The new and improved difference with these are the pocket. I like making my hooter hiders larger (the coverage is nice), I like to make them reversible (change is good), but a pocket to store binkis and nursing pads is a must. I still have a few that are just reversible, but now I think it will be standard to make them with pockets.

Itty Bitty Flowers

Itty Bitty Flowers are for scrapbooking, because I can't look at anything and not think about how it would work in scrapbooking. So, of course when I saw the satin flowers for hair I had to make them for scrapbooking. Maybe when I have time I will try small butterflies. I can't wait to use these.
